The Sound of Music....

Lovely weekend of music, first at the Cove on Saturday night serenading the diners and then SUNDAY at the Firehall Theatre in the Town of Gananoque for the "1000 Islands Sings Concert" in support of the local food banks. When Miss V isn't performing, she's usually shooting photos of other people performing, and so here are a few pics of the evening's events: CLICK HERE TO SEE PHOTOS

Thanks to all of the wonderful musicians who donated a song to the CD, and performed their own original tunes at the show: Erica Bradley & Jay Mittler Mark Hunt & Brian Frommer, Doug Gifford , Cliff Edwards Music, Chickenwire, Norbert Lepage, Colin Slack, Mike Bishop, Smith & Brady, and OPBB. Thanks to Doug Reansbury for making everyone sound fantastic as he always does. Thanks to Brian Frommer for all the technical stage stuff, Susan Alford for keeping everyone hydrated. Thanks to Cliff Edwards for helping to put this all together, and to the community that came out and bought tickets and enjoyed the show. So much appreciated! November is the month of GIVING!

Such an amazing time this past Sunday afternoon at "A Greavis Gathering" in Kingston's Blu Martini! Big thanks to Derrick Claridge for pulling off this massive gathering of kingston musicians - so great to catch up with folks and see some faces I haven't seen in a long time, and get a chance to listen to some great live music. Miss V and I were honoured to be included in this lineup and delighted to have the marvellous Ian Kojima get up with us for a couple of songs! Thanks Ian!

Mavis and Greg you are so very deserving of this recognition, always a treat to see your smiling faces in the crowd. Thanks for all you do to #SupportLiveMusic - BTW Derrick's young, he's got a year to recover, I say you do it all again next year - whaddya say?? Stay Cool, Keep Warm!!

Next UP:

Join Me and Miss V along with a stellar roster of Gananoque musicians TONIGHT (November 17) at the Thousand Islands Playhouse Firehall Theatre in Gananoque, for an evening of music in conjunction with the Heather Haynes Gallery's "Wall of Courage" Art Exhibit. Admission is $10 and all proceeds go to the "Worlds Collide" charity: Enjoy an evening of great music in support of a great cause! Big Thanks go to Jeff Montgomery for putting this evening together - hope to see you all there! #MusicintheCommunity

It's Been a Wee While....

Home from the Emerald Isle...still recovering from a most wonderful adventure with Miss V. Got to see the sights, spend time with a loved one, make new friends, and of course - play a little music!! For now here's a little clip from a jam session I sat in at O'Connor's pub in the beautiful village of Doolin!

I also got to experience the "thrill" of driving, left-handed stick, on the left hand of their very narrow In some areas the posted speed limit was 100km/hr....I did 40km/hr - tour buses, on coming cars and SHEEP - OH MY! - needless to say there were a few times after a long day of driving, I'd have a nice shot of Irish Whiskey to soothe my poor nerves.

Before we took off on our adventure, I got to catch up with my old pal Wendell Ferguson, the marvellous Rick Fines, Suzie Vinnick, Jenny Whitely and Joey Wright who performed at our annual "Between the Lines" songwriters showcase at the Cove Inn. Truly gifted songwriters - I love these shows. I love that these talented people have an opportunity to perform their art in a concert setting, with people....Listening. Wow.

Winter is definitely moving into Eastern Ontario and our thoughts turn to warming wood fires, comfort food, well loved old sweaters... Still adjusting to early onset of darkness this week, those with 9-5 jobs aren't loving the drive home in the dark and well, it can be a tough time for many folks for different reasons, this prolonged period of darkness... Often times, I find playing music helps - a good song, can be healing ray of sunshine on an otherwise bleak day. It really is therapy.

This weekend, we'll join a bunch of Kingston's finest musicians at Blu Martini on Sunday, November 12 to make a joyful noise and shine the light on two of Kingston's best loved and most dedicated Live Music Cheerleaders, Mavis Livingston & Greg Richmond - fondly known as "Greavis". Starts at 3pm and goes til 11pm. $5.00 gets you in for all the fun, and all monies raised are being split between the Kingston Sexual Assault Centre and Joe's Mill. Great Music for a great cause!

By the way we still have some open dates if you'd like us to come play at YOUR holiday gathering - get in touch! In the meantime - Stay Cool & Keep Warm.

Music Makes the World Go Round...
